Intro to Halal meat production
Minnesota is home to thousands of people with an unmet preference for fresh, high-quality, and affordable meats processed using the Halal method. As a result, a halal meat market offer untapped opportunities for Minnesota farmers to diversify and expand their markets and for new and emerging farmers to become involved in Halal meat production. Farmers, breeders, meat processors, wholesalers, distributors, and retailers are invited to participate in this introductory webinar to learn more about this unmet need and resources for producers to investigate different aspects of halal meat production.

Serdar Mamedov, Health & Nutrition Educator with the University of Minnesota Extension, will facilitate the webinar. He works with local communities to address access to healthy food issues. Serdar strongly believes that developing a transparent, sustainable, and equitable Halal meat market in Minnesota would benefit both Muslims and non-Muslims.

Requests for accommodations should be sent to Julie Larson @ larso143@umn.edu two weeks prior to the event.
